Our Adoptable Pets.....

If you're interested in adopting a friend from The Ark, please understand that the pets that are here all have had trauma in their little lives and we want to be sure that their next home will be a forever home. So we ask that you fill out an application. Go to the "Adoption Procedure" page, select either DOG or CAT ADOPTION APPLICATION, fill out the form and submit. It is important that the pet is as happy with the adoption as the adoptive family!

Our goal is to move each and every one of these wonderful, deserving animals to our "Happy Endings" pages........

Although we try to keep this page up to date, there may be some animals which are not included here.
Please check our listings on the Petfinder website (www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html), as well.

A Stray's Prayer

This poem/prayer was sent to the Ark of Hope Rescue. Please help us help God's little critters from living the kind of life this poor animal had lived...

Dear God, Please send me somebody who'll care!
I'm tired of running, I'm Sick with Despair!

My body is Aching, It's so Racked with Pain,
And Dear God I pray as I run in the rain

That someone will love me and give me a home
A warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone.

My last owner tied me all day in the yard
Sometimes with no water and God was that hard!

So I chewed my leash and I ran away
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.

But now God I'm tired and hungry and cold.
And I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old.

They've chased me with sticks and hit me with stones
While I run the streets just looking for bones!

I'm not really bad God, Please help if you can,
For I have become just a "Victim of Man!"

I'm wormy Dear God and I'm ridden with fleas and
All that I want is an owner to please!

If you find one for me God, I'll try to be good
And I won't chew their shoes, but I'll do as I should.

I'll LOVE them, PROTECT them, and try to OBEY
When they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay!

I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,
Cause I'm getting so weak and I'm so all alone.

Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
Cause I'm so afraid God, that I'm gonna die!

And I've got so much LOVE and DEVOTION to give,
That I should be given a new chance to live,

So Dear God please, please answer my prayer and Send me somebody who REALLY WILL CARE...

Fostering an animal

We know that adopting a pet is a long-term commitment that some people are perhaps unable to make at this point in their lives. If you would like to foster an animal temporarily until a "forever home" can be found, please call or email Dianne.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sponsoring an animal

Did you know you can sponsor an animal? Similar to sponsoring needy children, sponsoring an animal is more "personal" than just sending a donation (although donations are always welcome! They help pay for vet bills, food and other supplies.) We just ask the sponsor to make a commitment to sending a donation every month for any $$ amount. They can tell us whether they want to sponsor a dog or a cat. We will send them a picture of the animal as well as updates on their status. Call or email for more information: 301-478-3300 or arkofhoperescue@yahoo.com

If you decide you would like to sponsor one of the animals, either with a single payment or small ones each month, all you need to do is send a donation, in any amount, to The Ark of Hope Rescue. Please add a note telling us which animal you would like to sponsor and add your email address if possible. It is easier for us to stay in contact through email rather than "snail mail". We will send pictures and updates of your animal's progress!

We need your help if we are going to stay a No-Kill rescue. These animals will stay here as long as it is needed. We will not put them to sleep. Please help us help them! For more information you can call Dianne @ 301-478-3300.

Coming for a Visit

Although the animals love to have visitors, PLEASE do not stop by without an appointment. Just give us a call and we can let you know when would be a good time to drop in without interrupting the all-important first moments of a prospective "pet parent" getting to know their potential new family member.
