Dixie and her Precious Puppies

Dixie is a wonderful, loving female that would make anyone glad that they invited her to be part of their family!

Pictured here is beautiful little "Bella."

"Scarlett" is pictured above. She is going to make everyone fall in love with her!

This is "Rhett." He is going to be one handsome boy!

"Rebel" above is a strong healthy young man!

Last but not least is "Beauregard!" He is just as adorable as his name!

The Ark of Hope Rescue received a phone call that a lady had a 2 year old mixed breed female. Her husband was just offered a job in Texas and they had to be there in 5 days, but they couldn't take their pet! At first she was told no, we could not take her dog because the Ark only accepts animals that have been abused, abandoned or neglected. It wasn't but a half hour later that we received a call from the Allegany County Animal Shelter telling us about a lady that was at the shelter, that had to move in just a few days to Texas. We told them that we had already spoken to her and explained why we couldn't take her dog. It was then that we were told that this young dog was going to be left at the animal shelter and she had 5, two day old puppies! The animal shelter stated that they had no accommodations for puppies and that all the puppies and the mother dog would be euthanized within the hour!! Ohhh NO that just couldn't happen! The owner was told to bring the mother dog and the puppies to the Ark. Thirty minutes later this lady brought in this sad, very scared momma dog and a basket with her 5 little precious puppies. The owner signed her over and left. Since then...

Dixie, the young mother dog, shook out of fear and confusion for two days! She couldn't figure out where her family was, she must have loved them very much, and why she was in this strange place. We kept visiting Dixie and her puppies giving her treats and tenderly petting her, speaking very softly and often sitting with her, crying ourselves, feeling the pain, the heartache she was feeling herself. After a couple of days Dixie started feeling better, feeling safe and loved again. Now, she is a GREAT dog, oh my so sweet, so good and great with children! Completely housebroken and up to date on her vaccinations. What a wonderful addition Dixie would make to a good family! It is going to be hard to see her go when some lucky family adopts her!!!

Dixie's puppies: are adorable!!! We don't know what the puppies are mixed with but the father had to be cute! The pictures were taken when they had just turned 6 weeks old. Their birthdays are October 20th. They will be ready to be adopted around December 15th. If you know someone that really needs a puppy that came from a wonderful mom or by chance you know someone that is looking for a nice young dog but doesn't want to be bothered with housebreaking, Dixie may be the perfect addition to their family!
